The Emergency Committee of Iasi County, in an extraordinary meeting, decided to suspend classes for Tuesday in all units of pre-university education in the county due to bad weather, News.ro reports.

Iasi County Prefect Bohdan Kojokaru said that representatives of the Iasi City Hall and County Council could not guarantee that it would be safe to travel on Tuesday and that students would not freeze at train stations or in transport in the snow, and for this reason the decision was made for schools to suspend courses from by restoring hours.

• “Today there were big problems both in the urban environment, in the city of Iasi, and on the roads in the county. Unfortunately, the weather forecasters said that the snow will continue and the snow will be a blizzard. In addition, the temperature will drop even more. The frosty period is coming.
• We saw what happened today when the city was paralyzed for many moments. If it was difficult to move through the main streets, then the secondary streets are almost impossible.
• The district also had problems affecting many commuters, including teachers. In addition, I have also spoken to education union representatives today and they have confirmed that there are problems caused by the snow and blizzard.
• The safety of the citizens must come first, and at the moment neither the representatives of the town hall of Yass nor the representatives of the county council can guarantee that it will be possible to travel safely on Tuesday, that students will not freeze in train stations or in vehicles stuck in the snow. Therefore, it was decided that schools will suspend courses, with the resumption of hours, the method of resumption is decided at the level of each educational unit,” said Bohdan Kojokaru, Prefect of Iasi County.

The decision of the county emergency committee will be brought to the attention of all directors of educational units and teaching staff through the School Inspectorate.
