One of the most prominent players of 2023, Karolina Mukhova (8 WTA), announced on Thursday that she will not participate in the Australian Open due to a right wrist injury.

Karolina Mukhova misses the Australian Open-2024

Defeated in the Roland Garros final by Iga Sviatek, Czech Karolina Mukhova was injured in the US Open semifinals, and recovery is more difficult than expected.

In October, Mukhova also announced her refusal to participate in the Tournament of Champions, and was replaced by Maria Sakkari.

Now the athlete reported that the pains appeared again in the middle of training and she will have to postpone the start of the new season.

“I didn’t want to share this with you, especially at the beginning of the new season, but unfortunately, the wrist pain returned in the middle of the training process.

Therefore, I am forced to postpone the start of the season and fully recover. It’s frustrating but I have to stay positive and prepare for the end of the year.

Australian Open, see you again in 2025,” Karolina Mukhova said on social networks.

The 2024 Australian Open will be held from January 14 to 28. The reigning champions are Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenko.
