Flip, a young Romanian startup that promotes the circular economy by refurbishing phones and tablets that they re-market like us, has created a new experiment that unites the new generations with the old.

Safety, from one generation to another

Members of the digital generation, who have always lived in a world with access to the Internet, already know how to navigate the online environment and are more familiar with how to use it safely and how to avoid dangers. Now adults come to them for advice on how to behave in a less familiar environment for them.

It’s time for a new generation, adapted to the online environment, to take care back. It’s time for them to teach parents to be safe… online. According to a study published this year, 7 out of 10 Romanians fear that they will become victims of fraud in the digital environment, and more than half of them have encountered attempts to obtain personal data. In addition, the number of frauds on the Internet is the highest during the winter holidays.

#GenerationsFlip – safe on your phone, regardless of generation

In an experiment created by Flip, 4 teenagers and their parents were placed in different rooms: while they were separated, the parents received a call from an unknown number informing them that they had won a new phone as part of a Christmas competition. . Children watched everything live: during the call of the experiment, adults were asked more and more personal data: date of birth, full name, part of CNP and even asked to go to an unknown link.

Teenagers watched as their parents trusted a call from an unknown number, even rejoiced at the prize and did not hesitate to share personal information with a stranger. The entire experiment can be viewed here/below .

New generations, new lessons

Teenagers recalled the safety lessons they learned from their parents and returned the care by paying attention to the new digital reality in which both generations live:

  • Do not take candy from strangers pond Do not take prizes from strangers
  • Do not open the door to strangers it is now and Do not open a conversation from unknown numbers or suspicious links
  • Don’t talk to strangers not even on WhatsApp

Young people also gave other advice to their parents to be more careful about things that seem too good to be true online, such as taking a pittance from each site, being careful about what information they are asked for. From one generation to the next, the lessons change, but the care remains the same, even if it now also comes from the little ones to the big ones.

#GenerationsFlip it was launched last winter with the first experiment Like us, regardless of generation, when young people were forced to handle the phone as their grandparents did, with little hindrance: gloves on their hands or glasses that made it difficult for them to see, to put them in the shoes of those who did not grow up with smartphones. Flip, a smart brand, regardless of generation, continues the series Safe on your phone, regardless of generation to help the public use their electronics safely and wisely.
