In 2013, BMW Motorrad introduced the BMW R nineT, a classic roadster with innovative technology and numerous customization options. In honor of the 100th anniversary of BMW Motorrad, a new BMW R 12 nineT continues this neo-retro philosophy with a new version for 2024, accompanied by a new variation BMW R12 “quite simple”.

“With the new BMW R 12 nineT and BMW R 12, we are continuing what we started in 2013 with the BMW R nineT. Thanks to the new frame, we got an even more classic and refined design. The air/oil-cooled, opposed engine with a new air intake system is a descendant of the legendary 2007 BMW HP2 Sport. BMW R 12 nineT and R 12: 1170cc opposed engine

Both models work from a opposite engine air-oil cooling with a working volume 1170 cm3, which can be found on many BMW Motorrad models. It is developing 109 horses (80 kW) at 7000 rpm R 12 nine Tmore powerful as well 95 horses (70 kW) at 6500 rpm R12.

The new “R 12” models have advantages a new air intake system, completely integrated under the saddle. To complete its form, we find a Twin Pipe exhaust system. mounted on the left, it features a dual muffler with tapered tips that suits both the sporty roadster and the neo-retro cruiser.

The new “R 12” is also completely redesigned tubular steel truss frame : it differs from the BMW R nineT, which had a main frame in two separate parts (front and rear). This new one-piece main frame has a cleaner look and reduced weight, with the rear hinge attached to the main frame.

New equipment

The new BMW R 12 nineT has two round analog speed and engine rev counters, a USB-C port and a 12V power outlet. The new BMW R 12 has a simple analog speedometer, and a second engine rev counter is optional. . One of two models rectangular digital countermore modern, also available as an option.

The BMW R 12 nineT has a dynamic look, a tank in brushed aluminum and a single seat with a backrest (available as an option). Ergonomics have been improved with a shortened and improved 30mm tank, allowing the rider to sit closer to the handlebars and adopt a more forward-leaning position. The BMW R 12 has a teardrop-shaped steel tank, 19-inch front and 16-inch rear rims. The seating position is relaxed, with a low saddle height and wide handlebars.

To complete customization options, the BMW R 12 nineT can be equipped with the colors Blackstorm metallic (in the standard configuration), San Remo Green metallic, as well as matte aluminum/Night Black solid. The BMW R 12 can be ordered in Blackstorm metallic (standard), Aventurinrot metallic or Thorium in Avus Silver metallic.
