Of the more than 400 contestants who decided to take part in the edition of The Squid Game: Challenge, two had health problems such as hypothermia and neurological conditions, the BBC reported.

Law firm Express Solicitors, which is representing the claimants, said it had sent warning letters to the producers of the reality show, claiming the injuries were the result of “poor health and safety standards on set”.

“The contestants thought they were taking part in something fun, and the victims didn’t expect to suffer the way they did. Now they are left with injuries after spending a lot of time in painful and stressful positions in freezing temperatures. We have a case of someone complaining of hypothermia,” said Daniel Slade, chief executive of the law firm.

“Everyone knew it would be difficult”

The players were allegedly injured while playing Green Light Red Light, which involves racing to a line as a 4m tall doll sings and rotates its face. When the doll turns to face them, the players must stay still or they will be sent flying.

Stephen Lambert, chief executive of Studio Lambert, noted that players who reached the line quickly took two hours to finish the game, while slower competitors finished the game in four to five hours.

Lorenzo Nobilio, one of the contestants who took part in the competition, told the BBC that he played the game in seven hours.

According to the quoted source, Lambert said that the producers were concerned about the well-being of the players during the filming and that all measures were taken to prepare them for them.

“Yes, a few people were upset that they were eliminated and it was a cold and rather drawn-out experience (…) When you give away a big prize, it’s always clear that it’s going to be a tough show to be on,” said a spokesperson for Studio Lambert .

A representative for “Squid Game: The Challenge” also issued a statement, noting that no legal action has been taken against any of the contestants.
