In addition to the price of fuel, insurance and even maintenance, the price of the motorway has increased significantly in recent years. And that’s even more since February as tolls have increased an average of 4.75% across France. But what is the reason for this sudden increase, which has never happened before? Well, you should know that the companies responsible for the management of the motorways have the right to increase their rates for their customers every year and can translate up to 70% of the inflation rate. And they do it without hesitation!

Another promotion?
The increase is justified in several ways, and in particular by work required for maintenance infrastructure. But while we can still expect significant growth next year, one company in particular wants to go even further. This is Vinci Autoroutes. The company effectively refuses to introduce a 4.6% tax on the profits of road companies and threatens to raise fares to compensate the latter. Then a 5% increase will be considered.
Criticized event
Vinci CEO, Pierre Coppi recently talked about this tax. He explains that “itTherefore, it is a bad idea that we are taking part in the competition, and we will take part in all measures, unless the government withdraws it or if the parliament insists on voting for this project. This will take place in the area of administrative justice, constitutional justice and, where possible, European justice, but perhaps we will find a solution sooner“. To be continued !
