And new restrictions due to electricity, unfortunately, will not reverse the trend. After all, we can only regret this era when manufacturers moved heaven and earth to offer different models. They racked their brains to come up with a model different from their neighbor’s model. Risks that don’t always pay offwhich was later described as a commercial failure, but at least they had the benefit of being around, bringing some freshness to this divided market. These are the “failures” of Peugeot the most significant since the post-war period.

Peugeot 604 (1975-1985)

This large charter sedan had to do to bring Peugeot to the high-end marketwhile Citroën has just launched its CX and Renault its R30. Too expensive, too fuel efficient considering the time, she had not not the expected level of processing on such a car, especially compared to the Germans. Eventually, 153,266 customers found a buyer after 10 years of work.

Peugeot 605 (1989-1999)

His successor won’t fare much better. However, Peugeot has learned from its mistakes: 605 was better equipped (especially giving pride of place to electronic equipment), correctly motorized and quite well positioned for the price. But again a disastrous finish and the reliability of his early career put an end to his ambitions. 254,501 approxhalf as much as expected.

Peugeot 607 (1999-2010)

Never 2 without three? Rebelote in 1999 with 607 ! The same spirit, the same philosophy, this large sedan took the chassis of its predecessor under a much more original dress. You’d think that facing the Vel Satis and C6, which were not unanimous at the time, Peugeot would have had a chance. However, apart from France, Mayonnaise never hardens. Barely 160,000 copies in an 11-year career: it was the end of the big lion sedans.

Peugeot 1007 (2005-2009)

What can we say about 1007? The idea of ​​offering a small compact MPV on the 206 platform was a smart one, and equip it with sliding doors to adapt it to the city’s constraints. But excessive weight of this system, and the sluggish blocks that characterized his early career made him a true “calf” on the road. Add to that not necessarily a balanced silhouette and an exorbitant price for the time being, that’s it: you’ve just created an almost certain commercial failure. 124,100 copies products until 2009, and the Private Sales soldier came to the rescue again…

Peugeot 4007/4008

These two models are very different, but ultimately their philosophy is the same: The 4007 and 4008 were Peugeot’s first SUVs, but were actually based on models…Mitsubishi! Outlander for one, ASX for another. Too expensive, too fuel intensiveand appeared at a time when CO2 emission regulations were becoming more stringent, and therefore environmental fine, the Chinese-French duo suffered a clear failure. 49,000 copies for the first, and only 36,000 per second!
