The Ministry of Labor proposed to raise the minimum wage from 3,000 to 3,300 lei from October 1. This will make it self-sustaining – the PFA thinks they have new contribution limits, but that’s not quite the case.

The situation is quite complex and the Ministry of Finance – ANAF should provide clarification, as it is possible that some people will consider reporting up to 3300 lei, even if they should not, as it would be an advantage from the point of view of taxation. .

According to experts consulted by HotNews.ro, the minimum salary from the date of assessment is taken into account.

So, if you submitted a Unified statement with estimates, say, before October 1, 2023, then you pay contributions (at the maximum amount of 6, 12 and 24 minimum salaries in CASS, respectively 12 and 24 in CAS) in the minimum amount of salary 3000 lei, as you have already completed.

If you do it after October, you will pay 3300 lei.

In principle, the smart form that ANAF will publish in early 2024 should contain this change. Those who do it on paper should pay close attention to the above. Therefore, it is important that the authorities officially announce.

Otherwise, those people who want to report 3,300 lei, although they should have 3,000 lei, may find themselves in front of tax inspection notices about compliance, and if they do not respond, get into control. One way or another, they will still pay, as ANAF “sings”.

Starting in 2025, PFAs will be slightly worse off when they pay taxes for 2024 if legislation is passed to introduce new taxes and raise some of the existing ones.
