The board of directors of Electrocentrale București SA (ELCEN), a thermal energy producer, has appointed Claudio Cretsa as the company’s CEO. Essentially, he is returning to the leadership of ELCEN after serving as the company’s special administrator from July 2017 to June 2021. “I return to ELCEN from the position of someone who knows the district heating system as a unitary node: from the production of electricity and thermal energy in cogeneration to the transportation and distribution of thermal energy to the final consumer (…) I return to ELCEN to urgently continue the steps, which we started in 2021: investments in the modernization of CET and the introduction of new highly efficient cogeneration units in accordance with European directives. Claudio Kretsu said, according to a press release.
ELCEN is the main supplier of coolant for the heating system in Bucharest (90%). The company also provides 5.3% of the electricity produced in the country.
