The reorganization of the Romanian National Postal Company (CNPR) is not a new project, and the employees who received the notice are exclusively those whose positions are no longer justified in the modernization process that the Romanian Post is undergoing, among them are the so-called political “heaps” or conflict of interest situations.
These clarifications of the Romanian post office are the result of recently published articles in the mass media related to the reorganization of the Romanian post office.
“Reorganization of the Company is not a new project. It was launched in 2021, as part of the modernization process of the Post of Romania; most employees support the modernization of the Company and have been working with the current management team since the beginning of this year. process,” said the institution’s press release, quoted by Agerpres.
As evidence, Post officials say that of the 200 participants announced to participate in the August 21, 2023 demonstration, approximately 40 participated.
According to the quoted source, the collective dismissal concerns approximately 100 employees of the central administration and does not concern the personnel of operational structures. In addition, for the approximately 100 employees who received the notice, management offered more than 180 jobs available on the postal network from which they could choose.
“The employees who received the notice are exclusively those employees whose positions are no longer justified in the modernization process that the Company is undergoing. Among them are the so-called political “bunches” or conflict of interest situations created by trade union members who also hold management positions in the Company; Since April, the Company’s management has appealed to the representative trade union with a request to submit measures to limit the number of layoffs. The union refused to take any action on this. Following the measures applied by the management of the Romanian Post, the number of employees affected by the layoffs has decreased from 501 to approximately 100. Among them are all employees who hold the positions of advisor to the general director,” Pošta Română reports.
About 50 Romanian Post employees took part in a protest in front of the company on Monday because they were unhappy about receiving layoff notices, said Ionel Ocelea, interim president of the Romanian Postal Workers Union (SLPR).
Asked if other similar actions would be organized, he said they would be created within the framework of the national leadership. “We are preparing for negotiations on the collective labor agreement and, probably, on this occasion we will also prepare a calendar of protest actions,” Oteles added, according to Agerpres.
Romanian Post General Director Valentyn Stefan said earlier this year that the company’s restructuring process involves about 1,000 people, but all of them will have the opportunity to stay with the company in other positions.
