The parents of the youths who were killed by a drug-impaired driver reached the Mangalia mortuary on Sunday to identify them as per procedures.

The uncle of 20-year-old Mihai Dragan, who was hit by another young man younger than him, said the family was notified of the horrific accident on Saturday afternoon, Ziua de Constanța reports.

  • “At first I found out from one of the children from the neighborhood who was with him, after which I contacted the authorities and, indeed, the police from Pantelimon Ilfov, where we come from, came. They came yesterday for lunch and officially announced the family.
  • We are devastated, the family is simply numb. They are finished. They are simple people, my cousin is a confectioner, my mother is a nurse. They raised two children, all their work and all their lives were spent there,” said the uncle, reports Ziua de Constantza.

The boy’s father did not let him go to the sea by car because it was a weekend when the coast was stormed by tourists, and he thought that it was safer to take the train.

  • “They were collecting money to buy him a house. Sebi was a student of the Faculty of Geography. He was a guy who didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, he was a smart, kind and smiling guy. He was the light in the family, brought a smile to everyone’s face. And now it’s over, it’s gone.
  • My nephew came to the sea by train, because his father did not let him take a car, precisely because it is dangerous, because it was crowded at sea. And then he said to go by train, because it’s safer that way. Unfortunately, it was dangerous,” the man added.

Sebi was not the most exposed and the driver hit him hard.

  • “The family wants nothing but justice. We continue to trust the Romanian authorities and whoever did this will pay for their actions.
  • I realized that Sebi was extreme and hit him hard. He had no chance,” said the boy’s uncle.

The boy’s family wants the boy who committed the accident to be punished and answer for the tragedy.
