Located in the Paris region in Guyancourt, in Yvelines (78), the Technocenter Reno this is the brand’s engineering and research center, where all its future models are born.

And it is in the center of the Technocenter that a very secret building is hidden, where mobile phones are prohibited: Prototyping Center Renault is only open to certain authorized members of the manufacturer’s staff. The French manufacturer provides us today with some details and photos of how it works top secret location.

Electric Renault 5: top secret location

This center is one of a kind: in fact, few manufacturers have a dedicated prototype factory equipped with the same facilities and processes as the car production lines. The goal is production prototypes faithful to future models production, such as the electric Renault 5, to check the stages of industrial assembly.

Before starting mass production at the Renault plant in Douai, northern France, first copies future generation Renault 5 are produced at the Guyancourt Prototype Production Center.

Since October 2021, the first Renault 5 mules have been produced here: they had Clio silhouettes to remain unnoticed during tests of the 100% electric CMF-B EV platform, particularly in Lapland, being technically representative of the future production model.

Electric Renault 5: to serial production

At the moment, new prototypes of the electric Renault 5 with vehicle testing are being built there: they are already equipped with the final bodywork of the model and will soon drive under thick camouflage on the roads of Europe to perform the final developed in real conditions using.

There is a prototyping center strategic location where the industrial processes are set up to make the series production of the future Renault 5 possible: it is here that the gaps and protrusions of the modules and body parts are monitored with an accuracy of tenths of a millimeter, and the software parts, connectors and electronics are also tested there.

In total, the Renault Technocentre Prototype Production Center will produce a sixty prototypesconfirming the start of production of the future 100% electric Renault 5. These vehicles will be tested in many situations, including extreme cold and hot weather conditions, for many kilometers to perfect the vehicle before it is sold to customers.
