Launching in 2021, the Dacia Spring electric car will get a facelift in its first year, and reports suggest it will be a significant one. In less than two years, more than 120,000 Chinese Spring cars have been sold, and this model occupies half of the market for new electric cars. Since its launch, the Spring has increased in price, but also received a more powerful version.

Spring costs from 20,800 euros in the Essential version and 22,450 euros in the Extreme version without applying the Rabla Plus subsidy.

In 2024, the cheapest electric car on the European market will receive a facelift that will give it a more modern “look”, writes the British magazine Autocar.

There will be small changes in the exterior and quite possibly in the interior. Perhaps with the launch of the spring facelift, new color options will be added, as well as a different version of the equipment. Other technology options may also be available.

Most likely, the base version will stick with the 28.6kWh battery, because Dacia doesn’t need to make the base model more expensive to keep the car attractive in a market where all the big car concerns are preparing electric city cars priced between €20,000 and €25,000.

Companies NEVER disclose how much EV batteries cost, but estimates for a Spring battery are around $3,500-$4,000.

David Durand, Dacia’s head of design, says that with the Spring, Dacia has found “the right recipes” for a small electric city car, but adds that it wouldn’t hurt to add a bit of modernity” to keep the Spring on trend. .

Durand said it has seen many people who live in the suburbs or in rural areas use the Spring as a secondary vehicle (while the primary vehicle is a gasoline or diesel engine).

During the spring presentation, Dacia representatives said that research shows that in Europe, cars in the A segment (mini-class) drive an average of 31 km every day. From this base, Spring will only need one charge per week.

Well, Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia, recently said that “if we were to do the Spring again, I would halve the battery, because on average a Spring car does 16 km/day in Europe.”

In January, Dacia announced the launch of the “Extreme” version of the Spring EV, which has a 65 hp/48 kW engine, almost 50% more powerful than the “Essential” version. The promised autonomy in the mixed cycle is 220 km in the mixed cycle WLTP (and 305 km in the city cycle WLTP).
