Ukraine’s offensive against Russian invasion forces is “not a new season of Netflix,” Mykhailo Podolyak, one of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s advisers, said on Friday, adding that the attacks were aimed at “shaping” the battlefield, Reuters reported.

He also noted that Ukrainian attacks continue in several areas of the front, despite Russia’s statements about the failure or suspension of the offensive.

“Counterattack” is not a new season of the Netflix series. No need to wait for action and buy popcorn,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

“Offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue in several directions. Combat operations to prepare the battlefield are ongoing,” he added.

This type of operation is usually designed to confuse and distract the enemy in order to launch a larger offensive to destroy his forces after they have been drawn into vulnerable positions.

Ukraine has so far reported the liberation of 8 eight villages in the south of the country over the past two weeks.

Zelenskyi’s advisor says that it is necessary to break through the Russian front with patience

Despite the slowness, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself acknowledged on Wednesday, these advances are the largest for both warring armies since last November, when the Russians left the western bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region.

Podolyak also charged on Friday that the time Ukraine needed to convince its Western partners to give it the weapons it needed to launch an offensive was used by the Russian military to strengthen its defense lines and build new, stronger fortifications.

“The breakthrough of the Russian front today requires a reasonable and balanced approach. A soldier’s life is the most important value of today’s Ukraine,” he added.

His comments came after President Vladimir Putin said two days ago that Moscow had seen a “lull” in the Ukrainian counteroffensive and that Kyiv’s forces had suffered heavy losses during attacks from the south.

He added that although Ukraine retains its offensive potential, Kyiv already understands that it has “no chance” in a counteroffensive.
