A few days have passed since then Paris Air Show opened its doors near Paris. An unmissable event for both aviation enthusiasts and professionals showcasing their latest innovations. And among the companies present, a French startup particularly attracted attention. This is Global Bioenergies, which presents an innovative fuel that has just been certified by ASTM International, the American organization responsible for validating sustainable aviation fuels. But what is it and what is the connection with the car? Don’t panic, we’ll explain.

Innovative fuel
This new fuel was actually created for airplanes that should too find ways to pollute less over the next few decades. But it is possible that this innovation will inspire other companies to create fuel, which will also be adapted for cars a little later. This SAF, which stands for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, was created based on sugar processed from plants. Then up to 50% of it is added to existing airliners by mixing it with kerosene of fossil origin. This allows not to modify the mechanics of aircraft that are already in service, significantly reducing the costs of airlines.
Large capacity
According to the startup, its factory located in France, which will be set up with partner sugar producer Cristal Union, will have a huge capacity. It will really be possible to produce it up to 30 thousand tons Every year. This sugar solution has already been tested several times and has proven its effectiveness. It remains to be seen whether it can be adapted for use in cars to reduce the use of fossil fuels. This alternative can be in addition to E85, which is already offered at many service stations in the area.
