The former ATP leader outlasted Alejandro Davidovic Fokin (34 ATP) in 3 sets, at the end of a match in which the Serb had many problems.
Djokovic won the first two sets on tiebreaks and needed 3 hours and 36 minutes to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

In the 1/8 finals, Nole will meet the winner of the duel between Juan Pablo Varillas (94 ATP) and Hubert Gurkac (14 ATP).
