The main favorite of the Paris tournament started the match perfectly, and the first set ended without the Italian winning a game.
Cobolli showed timid signs of a comeback in the second set, but the Spaniard showed no emotion.
However, the third set was much more difficult, with the Italian leading several times and hoping to reach the tiebreak, but Alcaraz cut his way to the second round.
The game lasted almost two hours.
In the second round, Carlos Alcaraz will meet the Japanese Taro Daniel (112 ATP).
The world leader has just one Grand Slam title, won at the US Open in 2022.
The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
