International Monetary Fund revised their growth forecasts upwards USA in 2023, its CEO Kristalina Georgieva announced today.
Based on this new forecast, growth is estimated at +1.7% instead of 1.6%.
“The US economy has proven resilient despite significant monetary and fiscal policy restrictions introduced in 2022,” the IMF commented in a statement, stressing, however, that “inflation remains an ongoing problem.”
The IMF also said that US interest rates will likely need to stay high longer to bring down inflation and that Washington needs to tighten fiscal policy even further to reduce its federal debt.
