Public employers cut more than 3,000 jobs in April, a month before the public sector hiring freeze, while roughly 10,000 public sector jobs were available between January and April, according to data from an online recruitment platform cited by Agerpres.
Thus, after 90,000 vacancies in the state apparatus were announced at the end of last year, May brought the news of a freeze on hiring in state institutions until the end of the year.
“The measure to freeze positions is aimed at reducing the budget deficit, but it will not be applied in the case of employment in education and health care, where there is a significant need for personnel. In addition, the healthcare system has been one of the strongest employers since the beginning of the year, and it is very likely that this will not change, given that there is a memorandum for this sector that requires it to be exempted from the regulation issued by the government. said Roxana Dragici, Head of Sales at eJobs Romania.
According to jobradar24.ro, the largest private and public job aggregator in Romania, developed by eJobs.ro, approximately 20% of the total number of vacancies are for doctors, assistants and nurses. At the same time, 11% – for workers, 6.5% – for watchmen and 5.3% – for referents. Technicians, carpenters, massage therapists, locksmiths, or hydrological engineers were the least sought after in April.
At the overall level, more than 90% were management positions (2,824 respectively) and approximately 5% were management positions. Approximately 1,745 vacancies were posted by local agencies, 410 by city halls, 360 by county agencies, and just over 200 by national agencies. At least county councils, the government, ministries and regional institutions worked in April. At the same time, 173 positions were vacant in military units.
The most vacancies, namely almost 600, are in the public institutions of Bucharest, the second position in the ranking is taken by Cluj with 226 offers. Brasov, Constanta and Timișoara are next, all three with more than 100 stations put on the market. Candidates from Covasna, Arad, Karash-Severin, Giurgiu, Gorzh or Botosani had the fewest options in the state
“To the 3,000 jobs available in the state in April, nearly 33,000 are added from the private sector, where things are more subtle and access to candidates is a bit wider, in an environment where variables such as remote or hybrid work, time vacancies or on a project basis, which attract a certain part of candidates, especially very young ones,” explains Roxana Dragici.
Currently, 34,000 vacancies are available on eJobs.ro, the largest employment platform in Romania, while jobradar24.ro has a total of 2,000 government vacancies.
Launched in 1999, eJobs is the first employment platform in Romania and the leader of the local profile market. Since 2012, it has been part of the Ringier AG group, an international media company located in Zurich, Switzerland.
