Komotini: Initiative to introduce children to green energy

Komotini 11th Primary School, in cooperation with the China Energy Investment Agency (CEERE), organized an original educational event called “New Energy in School”.

The activities held last week at the school were aimed at increasing the interest of local youth in clean energy, as well as understanding the activities of the Chinese organization through practical applications and interactive communication. At the same time, they sought to strengthen Greek-Chinese relations.

During the event, CEERE experts presented energy-related innovations to teachers and students. The atmosphere on the playground was lively and cordial, children enjoyed interacting with the experts and learning about the working principle and troubleshooting of the wind turbine.

A competition was also held to assemble a wind turbine model, in which 80 students were divided into seven groups to complete the specified task. The children were thrilled to see the homemade wind turbines spinning slowly as if they were producing real power.

Li Zao, General Secretary of CEERE, signed a donation agreement with Marino Konstantinidis, Principal of Komotini Primary School 11, to donate school equipment and school bags to students. Mr. Konstantinidis stated that the school will make full use of school equipment to enrich the learning process, improve the quality of teaching and educational planning. Accordingly, the students who received the school bags expressed their gratitude to the company by thanking them in Chinese.

In the interactive part of the event, the choir of Komotini schoolchildren and Chinese students won a warm response from the public. To express gratitude for the organization’s contribution to the local new energy, teachers and students sang two songs: “My Thrace” and “Insidious mountains in Thrace.” In return, the company representatives handed over the original album of paintings and presented the finished model of the LEGO windmill.

CEERE owns 75% of four wind farms in Thrace, namely Organi, Grammatikaki, Megavouni and Korfovouni.

The CEERE Thrace wind project is the first wind project China is investing in Greece. With a total installed capacity of 78.2 MW, it produces about 160 GWh of green electricity annually, which can meet the annual electricity consumption needs of 30,000 households in Greece, which has a positive effect on optimizing the energy balance, contributing to energy saving and reducing carbon emissions. to Greece. At the same time, focusing on business, CEERE vigorously fulfills its social corporate responsibility by supporting areas such as local education, health care and municipal government development, and strengthening ties with Generation Z, striving to promote the China-Greece cultural integration platform. .
