
In the first centralized netting of income tax refunds as a result of tax reporting with ENFIA debts and other debts they have, she continued AADE. With the new procedure, taxpayers do not need to apply to their tax office with a requirement to set off compensation against their debts. According to the tax administration, the settlement of income tax refunds in most cases will be carried out centrally, and not by each tax office separately. This development leads to faster settlements and, as a result, to the immediate deposit of amounts for which taxpayers on their account. During the first centralized offset, tax refunds of around EUR 5 million were offset against other debts.
According to statistics from the Independent State Tax Service, tax refunds continue every week for those taxpayers who do not have debts to the tax office and insurance funds and are eligible to issue a tax certificate. According to the latest data, 119,839 taxpayers with a credit report have shared a total of €28.27 million to date.
At the same time, customs clearance data show that the speed of filing tax returns has increased. Last Friday, 618,891 declarations were submitted, and in a week their number reached 953,959. In other words, 335,068 applications were submitted in 7 days. The average filing rate from 17,500 applications through May 5 yesterday reached 22,713 per day.
From the processing of the cleaned tax administration statistics, it follows that 71.25% of taxpayers will not pay additional tax to the tax office or receive a tax refund, and the remaining 28.75% will receive a debit payslip.
According to AADE:
• 54.09% of taxpayers do not pay additional tax to the Greek state. In particular, out of 953,959 declarations, 515,996 are null.
• 17.16% of taxpayers or 163,699 individuals received a tax refund, which averages 370 euros.
• 28.75% of taxpayers are required to pay additional tax on income received in the previous year. In particular, for 274,263 statements, the liquidation result is a debit. The average tax is 772 euros.
