According to data presented to journalists yesterday by Natural Gas Director General Io Mitropoulos, the household lives in a house of 120 sq.m. and the use of natural gas for heating this winter season (October 2022 – April 2023) saved 160 euros compared to fuel oil, reaching a savings of 14%.

Significantly more, at 36%, is the savings achieved by the restaurant, which saved the amount of 6,600 euros compared to covering their energy needs with electricity. Accordingly, the savings of the furnace amounted to 2500 euros, i.e. 16%, compared to diesel fuel consumption.

Natural gas, according to Mr. Mitropoulos, is the fuel of the energy transition and should be seen as a long-term investment, not a momentary one.

Mr. Mitropoulos presented the rapid development of Natural Gas, which, despite the severe challenges faced by the energy sector, has managed to maintain its competitiveness and increase its share in both the natural gas and electricity sectors.

In particular, the company managed to become the No. 1 supplier in terms of growth rates and new natural gas contracts in Northern and Central Greece, while maintaining the first place in Attica in terms of market share, as well as in attracting new gas consumers.

In the electricity sector, just four years after entering the market, it managed to take the first place among non-vertically integrated suppliers, gaining a 3.5% share in medium and low voltage, achieving a share increase of 10% during the first quarter of 2023

In terms of financial results, the company closed with a 120% increase in turnover to 882 million euros. Currently, its turnover is equally accounted for by the retail trade in natural gas and electricity, reaching 444 and 437 million euros respectively. The company’s net profit increased by 130% and amounted to 32.6 million euros.
