Presumably before the World Snooker Championship, nobody expected Luca Bresel to win the competition, but the world number 10 beat Mark Selby in the grand final with a score of 18-15 and crowned himself king at the Crucible Theater (Sheffield).

Bresel took the upper hand in the first frame of the last session and led 16-10, but Selby did not give up the fight and got closer to the Belgian (16-15).

Selby, who became the first player ever to make a maximum break in a Crucible final (Sunday’s successful performance), was not as accurate in the following frames and Luca ended the game with a break of 112 points.

Know:

Luca Bresel is the first player from continental Europe to win the world title. In a sport dominated by the British, only Canadian Cliff Thorburn (1980) and Australian Neil Robertson (2010) have won the trophy before.

In 2012, Luca Bresel became the youngest player to participate in the Crucible (17 years and 45 days).
