AI to me is a tool, and you can do a lot of things with a tool,” says Barbara Stettinger, dean of the WU Executive Academy and academic director of MBA Marketing & Sales.

“You can build a house or kill someone with a hammer. I think it’s important to have strong values and build on them,” she said.

  • Can you use it for bad things? Of course! This is where rules and regulations come into play.

According to her, we are in the middle of the AI phenomenon, not at the end.

“We see the possibility of application in certain areas. It gets better every year. We have the technology and the infrastructure to start with in terms of computing power,” explained Barbara Stettinger.

He believes that artificial intelligence can help leaders make decisions.

For example, in medicine, she says, if you’re a great doctor in your field, you have a certain ability to read so much research and analyze scientific research.

“If you’re also using artificial intelligence to do that manual work, automatically in seconds and then get the result, why wouldn’t you use that? This is for your benefit. You can focus on other things. It also benefits patients, as it achieves excellent results,” said the dean of the WU Executive Academy.

What are the limitations of artificial intelligence

“Where do I see the limitations? I think I’m into technology, meaning human-made programming patterns. People have prejudices and all kinds of things like that,” she said.

AI can be extremely good at preparing solutions for certain decisions, predicting certain things based on past patterns. And this is one of the limitations.

According to Dean, the machine itself (AI) is agnostic in the sense that it creates the output.

“But the decision depends on the value system, the vision of each person, how they follow a certain agenda. This is the core of leadership (there are no leaders). It is also about involving people in the project. So you have to create excitement in your company, in your team, about the future, about the vision that you’ve created based on the learning that the machine has given you. I don’t think that will change,” she said.

  • “Creativity is another point. Artificial intelligence is based on patterns. If you go in a completely different direction, or combine things, or come with your own point of view, if you add another, that’s where the leaders come in, that’s where the leadership and the personality of the leaders come in.”

“It is also about human interaction not only in the company, but also outside it. Think about conversations with customers, i.e. learn from them, innovate, create new ideas, negotiate. Why would a human want to talk to a machine about these things?” she said.

Let’s not be slaves, but masters of artificial intelligence

“As with any technology, we shouldn’t try to outrun the machines. A horse cannot overtake a car, no matter how fast it runs. Let’s see what we can do and how we can use it. Let’s not be slaves, but masters of artificial intelligence,” she said.

Barbara Stottinger says ChatGPT is as good as it gets.

“If you ask stupid questions that aren’t very sophisticated, you get bad answers,” she said.
