Every year, nuclear reactors around the world produce energy that is considered clean, as well as more or less radioactive waste that is carefully processed, stored, and inventoried. However, for the most dangerous of these, governments and experts are only now working to develop solutions for final storage, away from any possible interaction with the environment or humans.

Because the big problem with the most radioactive and hazardous waste is this: while it doesn’t exist in large quantities (it makes up about 5% of all radioactive waste produced in the world, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency), it can’t be removed forever, regardless of how they were processed, but simply stored somewhere far away.
