Is the tax regime in Romania correct? Some don’t pay because they can, said Daniel Dayanu, president of the Fiscal Council.
“Of course, you can’t eliminate everything, because there is no responsible state that does not provide any facilities. You can’t be an extremist. You have to look at the fact that our tax policy has been hijacked by interest groups and we have rigged the tax regime,” he said at an event organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
- “That’s what we did with all kinds of gates, whose was stronger.”
“You know why it’s hard? These groups are very powerful economically, socially and politically, from businessmen to public servants. There will be a fire (if you want to liquidate the objects, no), and this is a fire,” Dayanu said.
He also stated: “Do we need to adjust this tax regime? It is morally natural to fix this, because it is a great discrimination against those who pay, comply and do not benefit from these opportunities.”
- If you want to fix the tax regime, what will they say? Taxes are rising, you want to hit certain sectors. It is not normal. We must accept this reality.
Aline Chitu, secretary of state at the Ministry of Finance, said: “A quarter of workers are paid half compared to the remaining 75%. We are not talking about marginal things, that they have some conveniences.”
We would like to clarify that workers in construction, agriculture and the food industry do not pay income tax and health care contributions, although there are benefits.
