Renault, Peugeot. Peugeot, Renault. The two main French car brands compete fiercely in all their market segments. This isn’t new, and the 205/R5, 206/Clio, 207/Clio and now the 208/Clio city cars have been dueling for decades. The current generation Clio is no exception, and it was released at the same time as the new 208, in 2019. Chic and wise for one, aggressive and more radical for another. The two French stars did not play on the same court.
However, the French found their waytwo city cars that are among the best sellers on the market in 2022 : 1time for 208, third for Clio (only 281 units less than Dacia Sandero). With the new Renault Renaulution plan (new design, new positioning), but Clio had to pick up speed. Now it’s done today, with his mid-range restyling that has just been introduced!
Important changes on the outside
To remain competitive and to start the second half of his career calmlyit is consistent with the latest creations of the brand: Electric Megane E-Tech AND Southern in particular. She takes a completely redesigned fasciawith a grille much wider than before, decorated the new Renault logo (inspired by the famous Vasarely of 1972). His look is much more aggressive : The spotlights lose their C-shape, and the boomerang LEDs now descend to the bottom of the shield. This one, like the protective boot, is completely new and is more raised towards the center of the grille. This gives him body and shapes his athletic look. The changes are more subtle in the rear: the diffuser and shield have been revised, and headlights now have a transparent shellwhich exhibits a new light signature.
A simplified line of engines
On board, we note, of course the appearance of a new logo on the steering wheelbut also a digital instrument panel up to 10 inches. Renault equipped its Clio with the updated Easy Link infotainment system new safety equipment. This is special Alpine Spirit finish which is a great innovation. It will now limit range by replacing the RS Line fire. This is explained by also a more luxurious and sporty atmosphere : Alpine logos, Alcantara upholstery, blue stitching…
The range of engines remains relatively rich, with hybrid unit (145 hp), two gasoline (Sce 65 hp and TCe 90). But also a gasoline/LPG unit (TCe 100hp LPG) and a diesel unit (100 hp). The latter, however, should be reserved for corporate fleets. Renault removed its TCe 140 petrol unit, to make even more money from its 145 hp hybrid engine. Its prices are not yet known, but they will arrive in a few weeks at the same time as the orders open. The first deliveries of this Clio V 2.0 will arrive in the summer.
