The United States is expected to announce a new $2.6 billion military aid package on Monday that could include aerial surveillance radars, anti-tank missiles, various types of ammunition and tanks for Ukraine’s fight against Russia, three Americans said on Friday. Reuters.

The equipment list could be finalized this weekend, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, adding that the dollar amount and specific equipment in the package could change.

They were also to include precision munitions, equipment that Ukraine would use to attack Russian positions, and evacuation vehicles.

The bulk of the aid, $2.1 billion, comes from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which allows President Joe Biden’s administration to buy weapons from industry rather than from U.S. stockpiles.

The remaining $500 million, mostly for munitions to help Kiev launch its spring offensive against the Russian invasion, is expected to come from current US stockpiles.
