It is believed that Russian soldiers on the front lines in Ukraine make and use drugs to relieve stress, one of them said that even the military police do not touch drug addicts.

The account of this fighter, who was located in the Irkutsk region, appeared on the Russian Telegram channel Narod Baikal, the post was published by his wife Iryna herself.

The woman says her husband was drafted into the army in October 2022, a month after President Vladimir Putin ordered partial mobilization, and was sent to fight in a separatist “assault brigade” in Luhansk after training in Russia.

“Almost everyone there is in shock. They are constantly bombarded from the air. Soldiers are thrown into battle without tanks, only with machine guns and grenades,” says Iryna, adding that her husband and his comrades sleep in basements or improvised shelters at the front.

According to her, many soldiers use drugs that are prepared in places of the night. She also published a message from her husband:

“It’s crazy chaos. I went to war and found myself in a rather miserable situation.”

The serviceman declares that he and his comrades are responsible for all the activities that are usually distributed among the various types of armed forces – storming enemy positions, communications, reconnaissance, transporting ammunition and caring for the wounded.

He also says that despite the situation, the military police constantly try to control them, fining even minor violations. “But no one touches drug addicts,” says Iryna’s husband.

How some Russian soldiers tried to escape from the front

A Russian military officer reports that some of the soldiers sent by Putin to Ukraine are trying to escape from the front line after being wounded in order to get to the hospital. However, he says doctors quickly learned to distinguish between wounds sustained in combat and those inflicted by soldiers.

If they suspect that the fighters tried to escape from the service, the doctors immediately release them.

Iryna also reports that it is impossible to escape with the help of such tricks and even bribes.

“Bribery and bribery of doctors does not work. There is no problem with money at the front, the main problem is the lack of people who are being lost at an incredible rate,” she wrote.

This was reported by independent researcher Chris Owen on his page Twitter.

Numerous videos appearing on social media show increasingly strange behavior by some Russian soldiers, prompting some netizens to speculate that it may be related to drug use. But so far, there don’t seem to be any official sources confirming that this is a widespread problem in the Russian army.
