With a growth rate of 5.9%, 2022 closed for the Greek economy. According to data published by ELSTAT, GDP increased by 5.2% in the fourth quarter of 2022 on an annualized basis against a corresponding increase of 4.4% in the third quarter. Compared to the third quarter, GDP showed an increase of 1.4%.

It is noted that converging market estimates obtained as a result of a survey of analysts by Bloomberg spoke of a growth rate of 5.1% for 2022. The commission set the bar at 5.5%, the Bank of Greece at 6.2%, and the state budget has a reserve of 5.6%.

According to ELSTAT announcements, GDP in 2022 was 192.1 billion euros, compared to 181.3 billion euros in 2021 (up 5.9%). The data show that for 2022 as a whole, consumption increased by 5.5% (with household consumption increasing by 7.8%) and gross fixed capital formation increased by 21.7%.

GDP at current prices in 2022 was 208.0 billion euros compared to 181.7 billion euros in 2021, showing an increase of 14.5%.
