A significant part of the territory of Romania is geographically located in zones of seismic activity. Therefore, the first step is to understand what seismic risk exists in the region where you want to buy or rent housing, writes Daniel Popescu on the website Patrupereti.ro.
Seismological zoning of the territory of Romania is based on the seismic design code developed by specialists of the Ministry of Regional Development and State Administration. Based on this data, the Research Center for Seismic Risk Assessment of the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest created a map on Google Maps, which highlighted the main seismic zones in Romania according to the maximum values of ground acceleration during an earthquake. It is an indicator with values between 0.1 and 0.4, where 0.1 represents the lowest seismic risk and 0.4 the highest seismic risk.
