
The oldest newspaper in the country, “Telegraful Român”, the publication of the Transylvanian Metropolis, celebrated its 170th anniversary on Tuesday without interruption.
The announcement was made by the Metropolitan of Transylvania, Lavrentiy Stresa, who speaks of the importance of Metropolitan Andrei Shaguna, the founder of Telegrafului Român, a newspaper whose first issue was published on January 3, 1853, in Sibiu: “The hum of rotary and printing presses, and the trembling of the printing workers at work under the gentle and benevolent gaze of the Grand Hierarch Andrei Shaguna, over time still complement the “thought” and “feeling” of the Romanian Telegraph.”
