The writer who struggled with oblivion

“No one has the strength to completely surrender to oblivion. Willy-nilly, she remains either in two letters written on the wall, or in a faded photograph in a scrapbook, or as a half-erased ghost in some memory. No heart can endure the bitter game of total oblivion.”

Oguz Atay, who passed away very early, at only 43 years old, decided to fight oblivion and be remembered by this stormy book, with heroes and the atmosphere of the marginal, without becoming a synagogue of writing and narration, quite the opposite in fact, casting out demons and seeking God.
