2022 was the year when the shares of many companies fell. But T-Mobile shares are up about 20% when even rivals AT&T and Verizon are down. It was one of the main reasons why CNN named Mobile Phone CEO Mike Sievert the CEO of the Year award.
T-Mobile is now worth about $175 billion, more than Verizon and AT&T, both of which are in the Dow Jones index.
So, as CNN points out, Sievert beat out several other contenders for CEO of the Year, including Hershey’s Michelle Buck, Occidental Petroleum’s Vicki Hollub, and IBM’s Arvind Krishna.
Last year’s CEO of the Year was Pfizer’s Albert Burla, while previous winners were Salesforce’s Marc Benioff, Target’s Brian Cornell and Chipotle’s Brian Niccol.
As CNN points out, T-Mobile has had an impressive year despite many financial problems, most notably inflation. The company continued to increase its market share at the expense of its competitors.
He has also spent more money expanding 5G coverage in the US and has made several notable partnerships, including with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, to try and win more customers.
