If the name doesn’t ring a bell, Donkervoort is a small Dutch manufacturer founded in 1978 known for its lightweight, high-performance, rear-wheel-drive, front-engined sports cars.
New Donkervoort F22 now replaced by the D8 GTO, and already announced as the lightest supercar in the world ! Indeed, every aspect of the car has been optimized to eliminate any extra kilos, and the F22’s curb weight is homologated at only 750 kg.
Donkervoort F22: formidable style
The Donkervoort F22 has a clean and aggressive style, thanks to the teams of style director Jordi Wiersma, brand boss Denis Donkervoort, and Amko Leenaerts, also known as Ford Europe’s head of design.
It is characterized by aggressive lines, an endless hood, door scissors and a two-piece convertible roof consisting of carbon fiber panels that can be stored in the rear trunk.
It’s time!
It’s time for the biggest news stories of the last decade to come out of Donkerworth.
It’s time for the highest technology, the lightest weight, the best grip and the most cohesive design brought together by a family team.
It’s finally time for F22!#donkervoort #donkervoortf22 #f22 pic.twitter.com/Rtxw3yS2lU—Donkervoort (@donkervoort) December 10, 2022
Donkervoort F22: pure performance
The interior can be personalized according to the client’s wishes, and they are Recaro bucket seats equipped with six-point seat belts that can be used both on the track and on the road. The carbon fiber instrument panel includes a screen in front of the steering wheel, and a touchpad can be integrated on the passenger side.
Under the hood is a five-cylinder TFSI gasoline engine of the Audi brand with a working volume of 2.5 liters and develops maximum power 500 horsepower at 640 Nm of torque, all combined with a five-speed manual transmission. With a semi-light weight of 750 kg, the F22 exhibits an impressive power-to-weight ratio of just 1.5 kg/hp.
Donkervoort F22: only 75 examples
Many elements have been optimized for their lightness, including a tubular steel frame, carbon fiber body panels and even 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels. Forged or carbon fiber, your choice.
Production of the Donkervoort F22 will be limited only 75 copies, 50 of which have already found buyers, at a base price of €245,000 excluding taxes and options. The first deliveries are scheduled for January 2023.
The Donkervoort engineering team went to great lengths to minimize the weight of the F22.
This is how they were able to design, engineer, develop and test the new forged alloy wheels, which are an inch larger, but reduce the weight by 1 kg each, to 8 kg per wheel.#donkervoortf22 pic.twitter.com/n1lad4ciWk
