Vasyl Dink’s statements about negotiations with Russia are about to put an end to his powers as the Minister of Defense. After returning to the country from the NATO meeting in Brussels, Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke will ask him to resign from the government, sources in the coalition told HotNews.ro.

According to them, the PSD will not be against the reshuffle of Vasile Dink, the minister whom Marcel Cholaku has long included in the list of candidates for reshuffle.

In addition, the leader of the Social Democrats categorically did not exclude the option of reshuffles, saying that if the prime minister asks for it, it will be discussed in the coalition.

“I am waiting for the minister to return to the country from the NATO ministry. We want a discussion that is as open as possible to your opinion. This is not the opinion of the government, and then we will have to resolve this issue very clearly,” Nikolae Chuke said on Thursday.

Defense Minister Vasile Dinka’s statements were blamed, in turn, by President Klaus Iohannis, PSD leader Marcel Cholaku, and now the Prime Minister.

“In this war, Russia is attacking Ukraine. In this war, Ukrainians are paying with blood, and we all have to accept the opinion that only Ukraine will decide when, how and what to negotiate. “This position is our official position, it is the official position of the European Union, and probably some of our senior figures need to read the press journal more often to learn about these positions,” Iohannis said on Tuesday.

Vasyl Dinku, “as a personal, collegial opinion, categorically yes, he was wrong,” Marcel Čolaku said on Wednesday, arguing that when you are the defense minister in a country in a conflict zone, you cannot have “personal opinions, beliefs.”

In addition, he insisted that Dinku did not consult with either President Iohannis or Prime Minister Chuke before making statements about negotiations with Russia.

The statement that put Dîncu on the list of secondary materials

In an intervention on the Prima TV channel, the Minister of Defense of Romania stated that “the war in Ukraine will continue and that the only chance for peace may be negotiations with Russia.”

“Of course, these are difficult negotiations (…) The countries of the world, NATO, the USA should conduct negotiations for Ukraine about security guarantees and peace with Russia. Ukraine itself will not be able to negotiate with Russia, because the political class in Ukraine cannot now allow, assume (…) the loss of territories, the ultimately unjust loss of territories. It would be too big a defeat for politics,” he said.

According to sources in the Coalition, MEP Mihai Tudose is one of those wishing to take Vasile Dink’s place in the Ministry of Defense.
