The Government and the Prime Minister were sharply criticized on the issue of accuracy by Alexis Tsipras at the meeting of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA-PS. At the same time, he claimed that Kyriakos Mitsotakis, “having now learned that he will come”, is trying to buy time “to achieve the cover-up of a major surveillance scandal” and “to be able to control the distribution of most European resources in terms of absolute opacity”.
In particular, during his speech to the Political Secretariat, the President of SYRIZA-PS, referring initially to the international situation and developments in Europe, said, according to party sources, that “the international situation is becoming more and more unfavorable. The war is getting tougher, with no prospect of a way out.”
He added that “Europe is moving awkwardly and is facing its own contradictions. Without a plan against the escalation of the conflict, with only the United States winning. At the same time, the far right is gaining ground and government positions in important countries such as Italy and Sweden.” He argued that “the EU does not seem to have a collective plan to deal with the crisis” and that “Germany is blocking European decisions on setting a ceiling on the purchase price of natural gas and on joint borrowing to finance interventions to overcome the crisis. , but for the moment which internally follows its own particularly generous policy.”
Mr. Tsipras emphasized that “the struggle of progressive European forces to issue a common debt is crucial for the solidarity of the crisis, difficult winter and energy costs in all EU countries.”
Attacking the government, he said the only thing all of Europe is converging on is the return of the state to energy to support society and business, “everything except Greece, where Mr. Mitsotakis decided to privatize PPC in the midst of an energy crisis. And that is why the dramatic results we are seeing are not accidental.”
Continuing the theme of accuracy and the energy crisis, the President of SYRIZA stated that “Greece, according to Eurostat, is the country with the most expensive price of electricity in all of Europe (before taxes and subsidies)”, “due to the choice of Mitsotakis, the PPC to become protagonist of speculation. And during the year, do not take any measures to combat it.” He added that “the imaginary cancellation of the sanation clause has yielded results – in September alone we have 450 million excess profits.”
He went on to point out that “inflation has risen to 12%” and also called it “a political choice” that “there is almost no price control in the market.”
“As a political choice, maintaining a high rate of taxation on basic commodities, as well as on fuel,” he added, noting that “in practice, this makes it possible to rob mainly the middle class, but also the lower classes.” because they mainly influence indirect taxes to provide resources for subsidies that actually go into the pockets of energy producers.”
Regarding Greek-Turkish relations, the leader of the official opposition stated, according to the same sources, that “the Mitsotakis government is acting without strategy in the face of Erdogan’s provocation”, “changing the doctrine that foreign policy was determined by decades”: “From the pillar of security and stability in the front outpost of the West and from an equal partner to this ally, who gives everything without asking for any guarantees of his interests,” he continued. , arguing that “this policy brings dangerous events and negative achievements.” Because, he added, “the Turkish provocation is decided not by words, but by actions. And while Mr. Mitsotakis is simply content to say the obvious about the sovereignty of our islands at summits, but does not even dare to raise the issue of sanctions, if Turkey really challenges our sovereign rights, Erdogan will be disappointed.”
According to Mr. Tsipras, “It is clear that Mr. Mitsotakis, realizing now that he comes from the country, that he has no hope of being re-elected, is trying to buy time, as much time as possible, by clinging to the chair of power.” This, he argued, “both to cover up, to cover up a major surveillance scandal, and to be able to control the distribution of most of Europe’s resources in terms of absolute opacity.”
The President of SYRIZA-PS emphasized that “against this choice of Mitsotakis, in order to buy time, we must be vigilant, but we must also use this time.” In particular, according to him: “To deepen the reconstruction of the party. Prepare updated and strong bulletins everywhere. Organize public resistance to the cruelty of the government’s choice. Let’s turn despair into struggle, anger into hope for change.” “We must achieve this,” said Mr. Tsipras, “and only in this way can we achieve political change an hour earlier, despite the intentions of Mr. Mitsotakis and the interests that support him.”
