OUR Russia haven’t officially received her offer yet Turkey about holding peace talks between Moscow and the West, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin is due to meet this week in Astana, Kazakhstan, with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with whom he will discuss Ukraine and other bilateral issues.
The Kremlin does not rule out that the two leaders are also discussing a Turkish proposal for peace talks, but the Foreign Ministry said it had no information on the matter through official diplomatic channels.
“Preparations are underway for a meeting” on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, specifying that it would be an opportunity to discuss “the situation in Ukraine, bilateral relations and exchange views on current issues.”
Erdogan will travel to Astana on Wednesday, initially for talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and will meet with Putin on Thursday, a Turkish official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
