Roger Federer will play his last professional tennis game on Friday, September 23rd. The Swiss legend is losing titles at the end of his great career at the Laver Cup in London.
Next to him will be his main rival on the court, Rafa Nadal. As the organizers officially announced, the two legendary tennis players will meet in a doubles match at the end of the first day of the tournament.
Federer announced that he would not compete in the singles match. He even expressed a desire to play a partner with the Spaniard, the owner of 22 Grand Slam titles.
“I was too excited and scared to face the situation, the media, the fans, everything. I couldn’t talk about it without emotion. I don’t want this to be a funeral. I want it to be something joyful and energetic, to be a celebration, and not vice versa,” said Roger Federer of the London event.
