It is one of the oldest Swiss watch companies and has been in continuous operation since its inception. Longines will celebrate its 190th anniversary in 2022, and rightfully so. Which watch is suitable for celebrating such an important anniversary? Something super complicated, heavy and pompous? In no case. After all, this brand has chosen as its motto “Elegance is an attitude”, “Elegance is a way of life”. So, there are three Longines anniversary watches, and they all belong to the Master Collection, a “family” distinguished by classic elegance and outstanding mechanics. One in steel and the other two in precious metals (18K yellow and rose gold). The last two are limited editions of 190 pieces each.

What distinguishes them, apart from the metal of the case, is undoubtedly the different texture of the dials: matte light gray in the yellow gold version, sandblasted silver in the steel version, and grainy charcoal gray in the rose gold version.

Interestingly, the 12 calligraphic Arabic numerals that make up the hour markers are engraved on the dial, creating a beautiful embossed effect, and are the color of the case.

The slim hands are also made from the same metal as the case, with the only “coloured” exception being the steel model, which has blue steel hands. The smallest details of the dials are perfectly visible and clear thanks to the sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating.

The Master Collection 190th Anniversary has a classic diameter of 40mm. Inside is an automatic Longines Caliber L888.2 caliber (based on the ETA A31.L01) that beats at 25,200 vibrations per hour and provides 72 hours of battery life. It is equipped with a silicon balance spring, which improves its accuracy and resistance to magnetic fields.

The intricately crafted movement is highlighted through a transparent sapphire crystal that covers the case back.

All three watch models are equipped with a thin alligator leather strap and are fastened with a triple push-button safety clasp. They come with a 5 year Longines warranty. Their price is 2,350 euros (steel) and 11,820 euros (collectible items in yellow or rose gold).
