With procedural questions and requests proceedings started in a special court with the defendants former minister Dimitris Papagelopoulos and prosecutor Eleni Tulupaki. The trial has been adjourned and will resume on Thursday.

The court was attended by a former minister who served as Deputy Minister of Justice under the government of SYRIZA ANEL, as well as the prosecutor of Tulupaki.

At the beginning of the trial of Dimitris Papagelopoulos’s intervention in the cases of specific prosecutors and in specific cases, prosecutor Eleni Tulupakis’ lawyer Yiannis Mantzouranis filed a request for sick leave documents for a member of the court, essentially raising the issue of illegal composition.

“I want to raise an issue related to the legal or other composition of the court,” Mr. Mantsuranis stressed, arguing that the speaker of parliament could have been deceived when he included his name in the draw of members of the court. A special court held by Parliament declared the magistrate, although he was a well-known patient.

To this end, Mr Mantsuranis asked the President of the Court, Vasiliki Iliopoulou, to provide full information on the sick leave certificates of the judge in question, so that the legality of the drawing of lots by the members of the Court could be verified. court, and hence the legality of its composition.

Defendant Dimitris Papagelopoulos also spoke out in support of the request, stating, among other things, that he “disputes the legality of the lottery” and added:

“Because of my old status and my code of values. I will not express any insinuations against the President of the Supreme Court, who sent the list of Areopagites to Parliament. But it is quite possible that the majority of the parliament, which impeached me under pressure, used this as an alibi to draw the judges in question, committing yet another lawlessness.”

Earlier, lawyer Themis Sophos, representing appellate prosecutor Georgia Tsatani, one of the prosecutors who denounced Dimitris Papagelopoulos in the intervention, announced his client’s intention to file a civil suit. “We are also announcing a submission in support of the prosecution against the present Mrs. Georgia Zatani.
