
Two new strategic investments were approved yesterday Interministerial Committee for Strategic Investments (IDES)one of which is characterized as a Significant Investment of Exceptional Importance, a designation awarded for the first time since the adoption of the relevant law 4864/2021.
The first flagship investment of exceptional importance concerns the construction of a solar power plant and installations for energy storage and conversion of green hydrogen by the investment organization Bluesky300 IKE, with a budget of 226.4 million euros. In particular, the investments relate to the construction, installation and operation of a 200 MW solar power plant, a 100 MW power storage battery with lithium batteries, as well as the installation of a 50 MW plant for converting green hydrogen with electrolyte. A 200 MW photovoltaic park will be built in the same area, consisting of a cluster of individual parks, as well as energy storage facilities in an array of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 100 MW and green hydrogen production with a capacity of 16 tons per day. These investments are intended to create 442 jobs during the construction period and 24 jobs during the operation period.
The second investment concerns the construction and development of the hotel complex of the investment company KORTIA SA. in Mykonos with a budget of 61 million euros. It is a tourist complex with accommodation in a 5-star hotel with a capacity of 178 beds and four tourist residences, ancillary infrastructure (spa, restaurants, bars, etc.), as well as recreational and sports facilities in the Elia area of Mykonos Municipality. The investment is intended to create 550 jobs.
The Committee meeting was chaired by the Minister of Development and Investments Adonidos Georgiadis with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Development and Investments in charge of strategic investments Nikos Papathanasis and the Ministers of Finance Christos Staikouras, Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni, Minister of State Aki. Skertsov and Tourism Vassilis Kikilia, as well as the Deputy Ministers for Spatial Planning and Urban Environment Nikos Tagaras and for Economic Diplomacy and External Relations Kostas Fragoyannis.
On the occasion of the approval of two new strategic investments, the Minister of Development and Investments said: “With the two new strategic investments of 287 million euros, we prove that the government, despite difficult international circumstances, remains committed to attracting new large investments that will significantly change the image of the country” .
