
“A man who should serve a 10-year prison term for tax evasion and money laundering was caught on Friday trying to leave Romania hidden in the trunk of a car checked at the Nedlac checkpoint, Agerpres reports.
According to a press release sent by the Arad border police, the man was hidden in a Romanian-registered car driven by a Romanian accompanied by a compatriot.
“After checking the vehicle, a person was found hidden in the trunk. Persons and vehicles were taken to the headquarters of the institution for further investigation. Thus, the border police established that the man who was hiding is a citizen of Romania, aged 51, and a warrant was issued in his name by the Romanian authorities for a sentence of 10 years in prison for committing tax evasion crimes and money laundering,” the press release states.
The man was captured by the crew of the Arad County Police Inspectorate, and two Romanian citizens who were in the car are being sought.
