Germany: Lufthansa strike canceled – wage deal reached

Her pilots Lufthansa will finally not go on strike from tomorrow Wednesday, as a last-minute agreement was reached between the Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) and the airline management on the issue of wage increases.

The union went on strike tomorrow and Thursday for passenger planes and Friday for cargo planes, but “an agreement has been reached” and the strike is called off, a spokesman said.

Lufthansa declined to comment on the deal.

The venture capitalist said the basis for a comprehensive salary package and structural issues has been agreed upon and will be fleshed out in the coming days. He did not give details, but noted that it was “enough” to end the strike. The union asked for a 5.5% pay increase retroactive to July 1, as well as 8.2% in 2023 to cover losses due to higher inflation.
