Work on the high-speed connection in the west of the country started this year. The pace of work is “excellent”, assesses the Pro Infrastructure Association, which published a video from a drone of the construction of the 19-kilometer connecting road between Oradea and the A3 highway.
The road with a length of 19 km is built as an expressway for 13 km, and for 6 km as a state road with 4 lanes of traffic with a divider between the directions.
The contract for 18.96 kilometers was signed with the Austrians Strabag on 21.07.2021 for the amount of 546 million lei without VAT and involves 6 months of design and 24 months of execution. The technical project was approved on 04/07/2022.
Pro Infrastructure Association: “Bihor authorities have now realized that they need thoroughfares instead of two bypasses”
“The contractor has started like a gun, and if it maintains mobilization, it has a real chance to open the site at the end of 2023, before the contractual deadline of spring 2024,” the Pro Infrastructure Association notes.
“But it’s never easy with us. Now the Bihoran authorities have revealed that they want passages instead of two girats. Unfortunately, they cannot be added to the current contract and must be invoiced separately. We hope that these late requests will not block the expected opening in 2023,” the Association also appreciates.
