Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi thanked the United States for a new defense package in support of Ukraine in his address to the nation on Tuesday night, praising the HIMARS systems, which he said are very effective, but Russia still has the upper hand on the front, especially in Donbas , where “just hell”.

In his daily message, Zelensky noted that on Tuesday he discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg the main topic – defense support of the struggle for freedom, and that the current OSCE President, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau was in Kyiv, news.ro notes.

“In the negotiations with Stoltenberg and Rau, we paid special attention to the issue of our prisoners of war held by Russia. More precisely, this also applies to Russia’s terrorist attack on Olenivka, which should become the highest argument for all civilized countries of the world. The world officially recognizes Russia as a terrorist state. What else is needed for this? Isn’t this an act of terrorism, cruel and obvious enough for decisions to recognize Russia as a terrorist state to be made in major capitals of the world?”, the Ukrainian president added.

He thanked US President Joe Biden and the American people for the new defense package in support of Ukraine.

“The word “KHIMARS” has become almost synonymous with the word “justice” for our country, and the Ukrainian defense will do everything to ensure that the occupiers suffer more and more painful losses every week thanks to these very effective systems. Yes, it’s true, we still can’t completely overcome the superiority of the Russian army in terms of artillery and numbers, and this is felt in the battles, especially in Donbas – Pisky, Avdiyivka, in other directions, it’s just hell there. And words cannot describe it…” Zelenskyi continued.

Diplomats are trying to get more weapons

He noted that all Ukrainians should be grateful to the fighters who defend Ukrainian positions there, despite the significant advantage of the “terrorists”.

Zelenskyi also said that diplomats and other representatives of the state are doing “everything possible and impossible” to get weapons that will help Ukraine stop this “horde”, thanking them.

He also referred to new decisions to strengthen sanctions against Russia caused by the war, noting that the US and Canada have expanded the list of individuals and legal entities subject to restrictions.

“This is the right way and it is necessary for the European Union to fill the sanctions pause as soon as possible by adopting a new package of sanctions against the terrorist state. We will work on this in the coming weeks,” he said.
