USR leader Katelin Drula believes PSD will leave the government because there is a more serious economic crisis than the one more than 10 years ago.
“They are going to leave the government. I am very convinced that the PSD will not take the post of Prime Minister in the rotation announced in their alliance, because they know what awaits them in 2023, the pre-election year. The consequences of his own policy await him. This is a feature of PSD. Whenever he ruled, he didn’t stick around to feel the consequences of what they did. He leaves a year before the elections. It is based on the fact that people who are engaged in other things look at those who are ruling at that time,” said the leader of the UDR on HotNews LIVE.
Answering the question whether the USR will enter the government under such a scenario, Drula said that “the UDR is not a hinged party”
“This idea that the PNL is still playing, doing another turn with the USR, then again with the PSD, and that we are thus making a mockery of the governance of the country, is unacceptable to me. (…) We introduce certain conditions in the government to ensure results. However, the guarantee of having a prime minister in government is probably strong enough that we still have to discuss what we do, that government is not just about visiting Victoria Palace or a ministry. Romania will find itself in a serious economic situation, painful measures will be necessary. That’s why he wants to lead the PSD,” he said.
Drula said that early elections would be one of the options.
The most important statements of Cătălin Drula on HotNews.ro:
- I want to prove the truth to those who answered YES to the HotNews.ro survey. We are a party that wants to modernize Romania. I think even our critics legitimately want us to succeed
- An act of public administration is not considered a public service. PNL and PSD just want to find work in the state.
- The policies of this government only deepened the crisis
- We are months away from this crisis causing serious pain
- Mr Iserescu made it very clear that fiscal policy only adds gas to the fire of inflation.
- We are facing the danger of stagflation; people will remain unemployed and have trouble paying their contributions. Stagflation is the most harmful phenomenon
- The future crisis will be bigger than the previous one
- I think we will be hit before the elections. At one point I wondered what they (PNL and PSD) were thinking. I think they will leave the government. PSD every time they ruled crookedly, they left the government
- The epaulettes are provided by Mr. Chuke, a former military man who has assured that he will not enter politics.
- Mr. Chuke is a plagiarist. This is a fact! There are 60 pages of his lordship’s PhD thesis that were plagiarized. This impersonation is an extremely harmful phenomenon
- Those who actually do a doctorate (I did a master’s at the University of Toronto) know how much work is ahead of them. ..Justice blocked this case. The judge overturned the referrals, some of which were based on formal criteria, it was said would affect the prime minister’s career. After which the next day the judge resigned. Such a militarized security system is dangerous for democracy
- I remember when Vlad Voiculescu jumped up to ask why the military needed special vaccination centers, everyone jumped up as if burned, including Mr. Čuke, who was the Minister of Defense.
- Even USR is not without a stain on his shirt. We are not perfect either
- I had a kind of warm relationship with Emil Bock, after which he started telling lies. But there are other mayors with whom we have very good relations. With those who work, we get to know each other and respect each other
- Let’s not make Romania Switzerland, but let’s at least make some progress in this direction
- PSD and PNL also have people who want to modernize Romania, but they lack the courage to raise their voices. These people are 90-95%
- In the latest sociological study of the UDR 5 months ago, we bet on 12-13%
- Many of us come from civil society, which is different from politics. The party should have a much more institutional approach. People wonder what a party can do and have a unified voice
- For me, it is a disappointment that Mr. Cholos
- Individualism in politics does not produce results. The USSR went through ups and downs, but for 5 years we built this political project
- We have almost 24,000 paid members. More than 70% voted in the internal elections
- This fall, we want to start a new wave of expansion. I will not hide from you that I have had failures. We had a community where we had 12 members and where we had 6 votes.
- I see this expansion of ours as an ebb and flow. Then we have a door-to-door knocking process and we have a very good response. We want to knock on a million doors.
- We are coming after two years of pandemic and social disillusionment
- The results of the relationship with PNL were finally announced. In all the actions of PNL in relation to us, no coincidence of values was visible.
- Mr. Sitsu was right to say that reforms were needed, but in practice the PNL ministers did not put these ideas into practice
- We are on the verge of garbage. We borrow more expensively than Russia. We are in the worst situation in the EU.
- The scale of the crisis will be determined by the current Government, which is unable to control spending
- We are one team – the UDR team. Colleagues who understand this are very happy in this building to build together
- In some places and in certain aspects… there were anarchic elements in the Ukrainian SSR, but they set the tone. My role as a leader is to prevent the destruction of the work of tens of thousands of people who have built something
- We will make all decisions maturely. You need to understand what a legitimate debate is….
- We were in the family of European Democrats…they were parties of 50 years and 80 years…and we were asked how we managed to get such good results in the second election participation!
- You can’t build anything in politics in a year or two, you need repeated messages and a growth strategy
- I am very disappointed with Yohannis. He betrayed the modernization movement of Romania
- He doesn’t want to upset the thieves. He believes that it is inevitable: that it is normal when someone gets into public money, that it is politics
- And PSD and PNL are very afraid of us
- It is very clear that we will have a presidential candidate. We will let you know in advance…
- The executive position suits me more … the position of prime minister suits me more (asked if he will run for president)
- Everything needs to be thought through to get the best result
- I do not rule out a presidential candidacy a priori, but we will have to decide on the best option.
- I want us to put forward credible candidates for the next election, but to do that we still need to expand
- There are 3 types of people in USR: members who are politically inactive but who pay dues, people who are very busy with their own business who don’t want to be involved in politics, and people who are active and want to be involved in politics.
- We want to have a leading role in the political arena. We are not the third or fifth way. When Iohannis said that he will deal with the project with PNL and PSD until 2028, although both are critical… For me, a guarantee would be the position of prime minister. We go to government only when we can achieve results. And this would be possible only in the position of prime minister.
- To win, you need to fight and believe in what you are doing!
