The PSD allocated at least 5.3 million euros from the money received as subsidies from the state for media and propaganda expenses between January and June 2022. And the PNL channeled 3.6 million euros for the same in the first six months of the year, according to the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).

In general, for the period January-June 2022, sums in the amount of 124,890,327.26 lei, i.e. 24.9 million euros, representing subsidies from the state budget, were paid to the accounts of political formations.

PSD received about 48 million lei, of which it spent more than 36.3 million. Of these funds, 73.85%, i.e. more than 26.8 million, were spent on press and propaganda.

PNL received a subsidy from the state in the amount of about 40.7 million lei, of which it spent more than 24.7 million. More than 18.2 million lei, i.e. 73.80% of the money spent, was directed to the press and propaganda.

According to AEP data, PSD and PNL spent about as much on media and propaganda in the first six months of 2022 as they did in all of last year. In 2021, PSD gave 39.6 million lei, and PNL – 21.2 million.

In the same section, in the first six months of this year, PMP gave 25.15% of the funds spent on press and propaganda. In total, PMP received a subsidy, from January to June 2022, of more than 2.5 million lei, of which it spent 2.3.

And USR redirected more than 1.5 million lei to propaganda, i.e. 13.41% of the funds spent in the first six months of the year.

According to AEP, AUR did not spend any part of the subsidy received.

For the Romanian Party, personnel costs and costs with fees for lawyers, executors and experts amount to 44.01% each. In the case of the Save Romania Union, personnel costs accounted for 34.19% of the total costs incurred.

And last year, the parties gave more than half of the state funds spent on propaganda

Last year, no less than 62.6 million lei of state subsidies went from the parties to media and propaganda expenses. This is more than half of the amount spent by political parties in 2021.

PSD and PNL were the stars in this section with percentages of 71.2% and 64.2% respectively.
