In a new video published by the Ukrainian military on social networks, it can be seen how they destroyed another T-90M tank with a hand grenade, the most modern of those that Russia sent to fight in Ukraine, the losses of the Russians in this section reach enormous proportions.
On Tuesday, videos appeared on social media showing the tank being destroyed after its crew abandoned it. Ukrainian drone operators manage to drop an M-67 hand grenade through one of the hatches left open, a technique they had been perfecting since the first months of the war, the explosion setting the tank ablaze.
Another damaged Russian T-90M, which was left to fend for itself with open hatches, was destroyed by a drone with an M-67 grenade. Once again, the Russian army’s $5 million vehicle disappeared in seconds.

While it’s not entirely clear whether the T-90M tank was abandoned by the Russians during the mechanized assault they attempted this Saturday near Avdiivka, a comparison of the new footage with later released Ukrainian repulse video strongly suggests that it was. thing.
By the way, since Saturday, a separate video appeared on social networks, which shows how the Ukrainians destroyed the thrown T-90M also with the help of a hand grenade launched into the hatch of the tank.

The Russian forces of T-90M tanks in Ukraine have been destroyed
The website Oryx, which independently monitors the losses of both armies fighting in Ukraine, notes that since the beginning of the invasion, the Russian army has lost 74 T-90M tanks, of which 38 were destroyed, 20 were damaged and abandoned by the crews, 13 were damaged and 3 were captured by the Ukrainians.
Ukrainian troops managed to capture their last T-90M tank in September of last year, almost a year after the first such capture.
By the beginning of September 2023, Russia lost 34 such tanks in Ukraine, now this number has more than doubled. The losses of the T-90M are huge for the Russian military, considering that according to pre-war estimates, the total number of units of this model was about 100 units.
It is not entirely clear how many damaged T-90M tanks have been repaired or how many have been produced by the Russian arms industry in the past two years, as some Western analysts and officials estimate that Russia has doubled production of the tanks from 100 to 200 annually.
But a significant number of the newly produced tanks are likely to be relatively old models, given the sanctions imposed by Ukraine’s partners on the export of electronic components to Russia.
Theoretically, Russia has only one tank more modern than the T-90M – the mysterious T-14 Armata. But it was not sent to the Russian troops fighting in Ukraine.
Serhii Tsemezov, the executive director of the Russian conglomerate Rostec, which produces the T-14 Armata model, said last month that it has entered service with the country’s armed forces, but is not used in Ukraine because it is too expensive.
“In terms of functionality, of course, it is significantly superior to existing tanks, but it is too expensive, so it is unlikely that the army will use it now. It’s easier for them to buy the same T-90,” Tsemezov said in a comment to the RIA Novosti agency.
