The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Adrian Efros, on Wednesday denied the fact that a kamikaze drone attack on a military unit in Tiraspol, which media controlled by the Transnistrian separatist regime wrote last Sunday, that it took place on the very day of the Russian presidential election, reports Ziarul Naţional from Chişinău, which quoted by Agerpres. The Prut official said that it was a “video montage” and did not rule out the connection of the so-called attack with the incident at the Russian embassy, when a man threw bottles with an incendiary mixture into the courtyard of the diplomatic mission. .

The Moldovan minister stated that, according to the information available to him, there was no explosion on Sunday in Tiraspol.

At the same time, Efros did not rule out a certain connection between the incident at the Russian embassy in Chisinau, when a citizen with an expired Russian passport threw two “Molotov cocktails” at the diplomatic mission, and the probable drone attack in Transnistria.

“The (relevant) person was detained. We find out what was the reason: was it the personal will of this gentleman or was it part of a provocation to show the vulnerability of state institutions. Probably, this event was not spontaneous. It was pre-planned. But the investigation is ongoing and we will provide details later,” Efros said in an interview with Ziarul de Gardă, another publication via Prut.

Thus, the incident at the Russian embassy is analyzed together with the so-called attack on the military unit in Tiraspol, he emphasized.

The alleged attack “was part of a disinformation campaign to cause panic, to cause fear, to cause instability among citizens. This is a montage, there was absolutely no explosion. Specialists will come with more detailed information. This is a disinformation campaign and an attempt to cause instability among citizens,” said the Moldovan minister.

Last Sunday, Transnistrian mass media reported that a kamikaze drone attacked a military unit in Tiraspol, as a result of which an MI-8 ground helicopter was destroyed. The separatists noted that the corresponding drone would fly from the side of the bridge on the border with Ukraine. In this case, the so-called law enforcement agencies on the left bank of the Dniester opened criminal proceedings.

In the first reaction, the Chisinau government’s Reintegration Bureau said the alleged kamikaze drone attack announced on the left bank of the Dniester was a routine provocation to cause “fear and panic in the region.”
